Brazil

The video below shows the terrifying moment a bank manager is calmed down by a police officer after armed gang members kidnapped him from his home and strapped a bomb to his chest in a botched robbery attempt in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

The incident took place on Thursday evening when four men entered the home of the head of the Bradesco Bank, in the municipality of Sobrália, and held him hostage until Friday morning, the military police said.

The robbers forcibly took the manager to the bank branch, where they were able to subdue another manager, a cleaner and two guards. To avoid being noticed, the robbers instructed the cleaner to sweep the front of the building.

However, the woman escaped and on the way she was confronted by a relative of hers to whom she told about the incident. They notified the Police and during negotiations, the two suspects agreed to release the hostages.

Members of the Bomb Squad evacuated the bank and detonated the bomb. Fortunately, the explosive material was also removed from the bank director's body and the entire operation ended without anyone being injured.
