"The transit of gas to Europe, through the Sokhranivka entry point to Ukraine, will be stopped at 7 o'clock on Wednesday, due to the actions of the Russian occupying forces."

The news is confirmed to Bloomberg, citing a statement posted on the operating company website.

"It is still possible for the gas to be redirected to the Sudzha compressor station, allowing European contracts to be respected," the US news site said.

Russia has already entered another phase of responding to Western sanctions by using energy as a weapon and cutting off gas supplies to countries it considers hostile.

As reported in recent days, leaders in Europe are preparing a plan to reduce their dependence on Russian energy.

And Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized EU countries for resisting a total ban on Russian oil and gas because of the huge economic cost, saying they have blood on their hands.
