She was caught by the snow avalanche while skiing, the dead body of the American woman is found in Brezovica!

An American citizen, aged 54, lost her life on Tuesday after a sudden snow avalanche in the area known as "Eagle's Nest".

The event happened yesterday around 15:35 at the skiing center in Brezovica. The husband of the 54-year-old, a British citizen who was skiing with the victim, informed the authorities that her body could have been trapped by the avalanche.

"Skiing Center, Brezovica 13.02.2024 - 15:35. A female American citizen has been found by search and rescue teams without signs of life in the place called 'Eagle's Nest'. The victim, according to her husband (a British citizen), with whom they were skiing together, is suspected to have been trapped by the snow avalanche," the report states.

After the search, the Police was able to find the dead body of the victim, which by the decision of the prosecutor was sent to the IML for an autopsy.

It is worth noting that numerous specialized teams were mobilized to rescue the American tourist, but unfortunately the American citizen did not survive her injuries.

Deni Hameli from the Mountain Search and Rescue Service of Kosovo in an address to the media emphasized that around 15:20 we received a call for help from the Ski Patrol in Brezovica, for an avalanche accident.

"The weather was foggy and the visibility was very low. It was very difficult to locate the accident site. After several attempts, we found that the accident happened in the place called 'The place of Eagles'. After a short search, the body was located, but unfortunately, due to trauma from the avalanche, a foreign citizen passed away," Hameli stated, reports Telegrafi.

"Be careful where you move as your very small movement off the ski trail can be dangerous for your life. So move only on ski trails. The paths are safe and Brezoviza is also safe", added the member from the Mountain Search and Rescue Service of Kosovo.
