The US Senate has approved the aid package in the amount of 95.34 billion dollars, which also includes military and economic aid for Ukraine in the amount of 61 billion dollars.
However, the fate of this legislation remains unclear, as Republicans who control the House of Representatives have signaled that they will not support these measures.
US senators voted 70 for and 29 against this bill, exceeding the 60 votes needed for approval.
This was achieved after 22 Republican senators joined the Democrats to support this aid package. The approved package also includes 14 billion dollars in aid to Israel and aid to other countries.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the US Senate for approving this legislation.
" For us in Ukraine, continued US aid helps us save lives from Russian terror. This means that life will continue in our cities and will triumph over war ," he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"US aid brings peace closer to Ukraine and restores world stability, resulting in increased security and prosperity for all."
American financial and military aid has been essential for Ukraine, a country that is fighting against the invasion that Russia launched almost two years ago./ REL
