New York City Subway

One person was killed and five others were injured in a gun attack in the Bronx subway in New York. The shooting happened at 16:40 local time, when the subway was packed with people.

Police said the 34-year-old, a bystander, was taken to hospital but did not survive his injuries.

According to authorities, the shooting was not random and started inside a train when two groups got into an argument. As the train pulled into the station, a man grabbed a gun and opened fire. Some of the injured were bystanders who were not involved in the fight and were nearby.

Witnesses said there were many people on the subway when the shots rang out, including children.
