A large fire broke out this Sunday in an industrial building in Spreitenbach near Zurich, police announced.
Seven people suffered from asphyxia, four of whom were hospitalized.
According to Aargau cantonal police, the fire broke out in a storage facility where bitumen is also stored, so the smoke is very black. The fire service went to the scene and at a distance of several kilometers a large cloud of smoke was seen.
Bitumen is needed for asphalt production.
According to police spokesman Adrian Bieri, the fire quickly spread to other buildings. However, there are no residential buildings nearby. The back of the warehouse collapsed about two hours after the fire broke out. Other buildings were burned and demolished, reports the Tagesanzeiger.
