Trump is expected to speak on the phone with Putin today, before meeting with
US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin

US President Donald Trump is expected to speak to Vladimir Putin in a phone call today, in another attempt to end the war against Ukraine.

The conversation comes just a day before Trump is due to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, amid speculation that the US could allow Kiev to use Tomahawk missiles.

Trump has criticized Putin in recent months for his lack of willingness to end the fighting in Ukraine, or to meet face-to-face with Zelensky for peace talks.

Zelensky is set to meet with Trump at the White House on Friday, where he is expected to ask the US President for more advanced weapons. Earlier this week, Trump said he was willing to give Ukraine weapons if Putin continued to obstruct peace in the region.
