Tragedy in the Maldives, the bodies of four missing Italian divers are found inside a cave

The bodies of four Italian divers who went missing after a diving accident in the Maldives have been found, Italy's Foreign Ministry confirms.

According to authorities, the bodies were found inside a cave about 60 meters deep in the Vaavu Atoll, during a search operation by specialized teams of divers from Finland and the Maldives.

Another body, of one of the five members of the group, had been found earlier after the incident that occurred on Thursday.

Authorities announced that a rescue diver who was taking part in the search for the bodies of the Italian divers also lost his life during the search and rescue operation.

The incident has shocked the international diving community, while investigations into the causes continue.
