US President Donald Trump's clash with European allies over the war with Iran is taking on new dimensions. After suggesting he would reduce US troops in Germany, the White House leader warned of a similar move in Spain and Italy.

"Yeah, maybe, maybe I will. Italy has been no help to us at all. And Spain has been terrible. Absolutely terrible. We helped them with Ukraine. You know, they made a mess of Ukraine, a total mess. And we helped them even though Ukraine has nothing to do with us, we're separated by an ocean. It has to do with them ," Trump said.

The president added that the US-led war on Iran helps the whole world, including Spain, Italy and Germany, and criticized what he called "so-called allies" for not participating in the effort to eliminate the nuclear threat.

"When we needed them, they weren't there. We have to remember that. We didn't need any help with Iran. We had Iran under control from day one, it was over right away. But I told them we would love to have you help us, because I wanted to see if they would. And they, in every case, said, 'We don't want to get involved.' And, you know, the amazing thing is that they use the Strait of Hormuz. We don't, we don't," the American President continued.

Trump's rhetoric towards allies has escalated significantly recently, while an internal Pentagon memo also indicated the intention to punish allies such as Spain and the United Kingdom for their lack of cooperation with Iran.

The initial warning about withdrawing troops from Germany came after Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the Trump administration for a lack of strategy and said Iran was humiliating Americans.
