Switzerland is ready to host a meeting between the newly elected US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which would be dedicated to resolving the conflict in Ukraine, if they request it, writes the Swiss newspaper "Temp".
"After the summit in Birgenstock, Ukraine, Russia and the US were regularly informed of our readiness to support diplomatic efforts to establish peace," said the head of the press service of the Swiss Foreign Ministry, Nicola Bideau, the newspaper reports.
Swiss authorities, however, will not take the initiative on this issue and the newspaper emphasizes that the country is only one of those willing to host the meeting between the two leaders.
On January 10, Trump announced preparations for a meeting with Putin, because, according to him, it is necessary to end the conflict in Ukraine.
The Russian leader's press representative Dmitry Peskov said that Putin is ready to meet with Trump without any preconditions.
