US concerned that Israel is spying on senior American officials

The United States is concerned that Israel has stepped up efforts to spy on senior American officials, including US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, who has participated in negotiations with Iran, according to a report in the New York Times.

Citing US intelligence reports, the newspaper said Washington is also concerned that Israel is increasing its efforts to spy on US Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Elbridge Colby, and one of his deputies, Michael P. DiMino.

An Israeli embassy spokesman denied the allegations and stated that Israel does not spy on the US.

Previously, the American network NBC reported that the Pentagon in recent weeks raised the level of the threat of Israeli counterintelligence to the highest level, amid growing tensions between the US and Israel over the future of the wars in Iran and Lebanon.
