Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has missed the opportunity to exit the war by rejecting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's offer for direct peace talks.

In a reaction published on the X platform, Sybiha warned that the situation for Russia will only worsen, emphasizing that losses on the battlefield will continue to increase and that Moscow's failures will become increasingly apparent.

According to him, the Russian economy will face even greater difficulties, including deepening recession, job losses, increased taxes and inflation that will most affect the most vulnerable segments of society.

Sybiha also underlined that international pressure on Russia and long-term sanctions will not ease, but rather will intensify.

His statements come after Zelenskyy published an open letter on Thursday, calling on Putin for direct talks and expressing Ukraine's readiness to respect a ceasefire while negotiations are underway.

However, Putin stated on Friday that he sees "no sense" in a meeting with Zelenskyy, arguing that previous meetings between the parties have not yielded significant results.

In response, Zelenskyy accused the Russian leader of having no will to end the conflict and said that many people around the world were disappointed by the rejection of his offer of dialogue.
