Russia sees dangers of German militarization: History knows how these things end
Maria Zakharova

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday that the increase in German military spending meant that the country was being militarized and that this would increase security risks.

"We perceive the statement of the German Chancellor (Olaf Scholz) as a further confirmation that Berlin has paved the way for the accelerated re-militarization of the country. How can this end? "Unfortunately, history knows how these things end," said Zakharova.

Germany has approved a 100 billion euro fund to modernize its armed forces. Among the investment objectives is the purchase of various equipment and helicopters and fighter jets to replace the current ones.

"This is a big step for our country. "This measure will contribute to greater security for Germany and Europe," said Olaf Scholz.
