OSCE reacts: Changes to the Electoral Code guarantee Albania's leading

The presence of the OSCE in Albania has reacted after the amendment proposed by the MPs of the SP and the DP for the changes in the Electoral Code , where it is guaranteed that the winning list 1 out of 3 is a woman candidate .

The OSCE states that changes to the Electoral Code should guarantee Albania's leading position in terms of gender representation in parliament.

"The presence of the OSCE in Albania appreciates the extraordinary progress in the field of gender equality that Albania has made in recent years, especially for the participation and representation of women in political life.

We welcome the current cross-party efforts, led by women MPs, and we hope that changes to the Electoral Code will guarantee Albania's leading position in the region and beyond in terms of gender representation in parliament," the OSCE response said.
