The United States has suspended its consular services in southern Turkey and asked non-essential diplomatic personnel and their families to leave the area due to security risks, the State Department announced today.

The announcement comes after the neutralization of a missile launched by Iran, which was intercepted and destroyed in Gaziantep, southern Turkey.

"On March 9, 2026, the Department of State instructed non-essential U.S. government employees and their family members to leave the Consulate General in Adana due to security risks. The U.S. Consulate General in Adana has suspended all services," the statement said.
