The Pentagon has informed the US Congress that the United States has spent about $6 billion during the first week of the military operation against Iran, the New York Times reports.
According to the American newspaper, about $4 billion of this amount was used for ammunition, mainly for defense systems that intercept Iranian missiles.
US lawmakers expect the administration to request additional funding from Congress to continue the military operation.
Meanwhile, according to officials, US and Israeli forces have struck about 4,000 targets in Iran, significantly weakening the country's ability to launch missiles and drones towards Israel, US bases in the Middle East and other allies in the region.
