Two people have been killed and at least 12 others injured after an Iranian attack on a residential building in Saudi Arabia.
The news was confirmed by the country's Civil Protection Agency through the social network X, underlining that the attacked building was inhabited and the strike caused significant material damage.
The victims were of Indian and Bangladeshi nationality.
A Saudi royal family source said that Saudi Arabia has coordinated with several allies to prepare a response scenario, but so far avoiding conflict remains the main option. "If Iran's attacks against the Persian Gulf countries continue, we will open our military bases to American forces for logistical and military support against Iran," the source stressed.
The incident comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region, as Gulf countries grapple with an increase in threats and reported drone attacks. Bahrain also denounced an Iranian attack on a water facility, saying the aggression hit civilian targets and caused material damage, according to a post by Bahrain's Interior Ministry on X.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump spoke late this afternoon with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer about the situation in the Middle East and the possibility of using RAF bases in the region to support the collective defense of partners. This comes after Trump criticized the delay in Britain's decision to send two warships to the Eastern Mediterranean.
The situation has also prompted reactions from the United Arab Emirates, which has expressed dissatisfaction with reports in Israeli media revealing limited attacks on Iran and aircraft movements towards Tel Aviv.
Abu Dhabi officials have stressed that this information could harm the region's delicate efforts and have called for more careful management of information about evacuation flights and military movements.
