The first flight on October 13, 2024 of SpaceX's "Starship" spacecraft goes down in history.
It is considered one of the most important events related to space and the success of the fifth test opens a new chapter in future missions.
Elon Musk's SpaceX launched the giant spacecraft in an unmanned test, and the rocket that powered it recovered with giant robotic arms as the spacecraft, after orbiting our planet, re-entered the atmosphere over the Indian Ocean, resisting temperatures up to 3000 degrees Celsius.
Compared to previous tests, this test showed that the technological and aerospace engineering improvements worked exceptionally well, solving all the previous problems.
Super Heavy Starship as a structure consists of two stages. The Super Heavy is 70 m and has 33 Raptor methane engines, while the "Starship", the upper part, is 49 m and is powered by 6 Raptor engines.
Both stages are designed to be reused, one to create launch thrust and the other to carry out the missions that will take humans to the Moon and Mars in the future, among SpaceX's most ambitious ideas.
As part of NASA's Artemis mission, at the end of 2026, Starship is expected to transport astronauts to the south pole of the Moon for space exploration.
