At least 9 people have died after a collision in a football stadium in El Salvador .

According to the BBC , the collision occurred during a match between local team Alianza and Santa Ana -based team Fas at the Monumental Stadium .

The match was suspended after a large number of fans tried to enter the stadium even though the gates were closed.

According to local officials, some fans had been sold fake tickets and an investigation has been launched to find those responsible.

From the images published by the local media, fans can be seen trying to endanger the barricades at the entrance of the stadium.
