Holidaymakers at Kastro Beach in Lefkada, Greece, were shocked when the sea washed part of a man's body ashore.

Neighboring media reports that the footage was macabre, as there is half a corpse from the waist down and even clothed, which most likely belongs to a child, which has washed ashore.

At first, the body was spotted by children who had gone swimming and ran to the beach thinking it was a turtle.

Coast Guard officers and police rushed to the area so the body could be transported for forensic examination.

The first assessment is about an immigrant who lost his life in a shipwreck.
