Crashed the vehicle near the White House, the American police arrest the author

A man who crashed a vehicle near the gates of the White House is facing multiple criminal charges, US police said.

American authorities stated that it is likely that the incident was intentional.

According to the American police announcement, the suspect is being accused of threatening to kill, kidnap or cause injury to the president, vice president or their family members. Authorities have not released the suspect's identity.

The suspect was arrested after the incident that happened on Monday night, the US Secret Service said, adding that there is no danger after the incident.

According to a witness who spoke to Reuters, the vehicle, which the suspect had rented, crashed into the fences of Lafajet Square, which is located near the White House. Investigators found a flag with Nazi symbols on the suspect.

"According to the first investigations, the driver may have deliberately crashed the vehicle in the Lafajet square fences," Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi wrote on Twitter.

The arrested person is also facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, damage to private property and reckless driving.

WUSA television aired video of police approaching a U-Haul. The video shows how the door of this vehicle is opened by a remote-controlled robot.

Chris Zaboji, who witnessed the incident, released a short video on social media showing the moment the vehicle crashed into the fence.

"I looked back and saw the vehicle crashing into the barricade," he said, adding that the vehicle then crashed again into the fence of the square.

The exact location of the American president, Joe Biden, at the time of the incident, which happened shortly before 10:00 p.m., is not known. He had previously met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States, Kevin McCarthy, at the White House on Monday evening./ REL
