The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, emphasized that climate change is not a distant threat and that it affects lives and ecosystems.
Ghebreyesus made an assessment regarding climate change through a post from the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Climate change is not a distant threat. It is currently being realized, affecting lives and ecosystems. Let's come together, reduce emissions, support sustainability and create a continuous path", declared Ghebreyesu.
The head of the WHO has drawn attention to the fact that in addition to floods and devastating fires, heat waves and long-term droughts are being experienced all over the world.
Ghebreyesus emphasized that the future of the world and of new generations depends on these steps that will be taken in the climate issue.
