Recognizing Kosovo's independence, Vučič clashed with the Albanian MP in
Vucic and Kamberi

The only Albanian deputy in the Assembly of Serbia, Shaip Kamberi, said that Kosovo is an independent state, while in the legislative body, the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, presented the report on the political dialogue with Kosovo.

"Whatever you want to achieve there, you have to reach an agreement with the local authorities and whoever is in power there, Serbia has no influence," Kamberi said.

He responded to the statements of Vucic, who said that as long as he has influence "Serbia will neither directly nor indirectly recognize the unilateral independence of Kosovo".

Kamberi said that the Serbs living in the Republic of Kosovo have many rights, guaranteed by the Constitution, and have representation in the Assembly and Government, while the Albanian minority and other minorities living in Serbia do not have these rights.

Deputy Kamberi said that a final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia is one of the most difficult challenges and that it is Vucic's obligation to lead Serbia towards solutions that create a European perspective.

He said that improving relations with the "eternal enemy" requires the ability to understand that "there is no reconciliation without facing the past".

According to Kamberi, Vucic has the greatest responsibility to tell Serbian citizens about Kosovo "the truth and only the truth, not empty wishes and political ambitions". He also said that in Serbia there is still no atmosphere for anyone to apologize to the Albanians.

Responding to Kamber's statements, Vucic said that Kosovo is not an independent state and that the Serbs in the north of Kosovo do not have the same status as the Albanians living in the south of Serbia.

"You are presenting the situation as if Kosovo is an independent state, that there is nothing controversial, but that it is only a matter of a bilateral agreement that establishes the equality and identity of the rights of Serbs and Albanians in two independent states. But that's not the case," Vucic said, writes REL.

Kosovo and Serbia have been developing this process since 2011, which is aimed at the complete normalization of relations. However, the two sides have opposite attitudes regarding the end of the process. Kosovo wants a final agreement to include mutual recognition, while Serbia aims for a compromise solution.
