Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said he had outlined Iran's demands and reservations about the US position on Saturday, as Islamabad mounted a fresh effort to end the war that has killed thousands and shaken global markets.
"We explained our principles regarding recent developments regarding a ceasefire and a complete end to the imposed war on Iran," it was announced in a statement.
Meanwhile, an Iranian diplomatic source told the Reuters news agency that they will not accept the maximalist demands of the United States.
Iran's armed forces have already threatened to respond if the US continues its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
President Mahmoud Pezeshkian called on the people to control their electricity consumption as the blockade of ports continues.
"The enemies are destroying the infrastructure and placing us under siege so that the people's current contentment turns into dissatisfaction."
"Instead of 10 lights, turn on only 2," was Pezeshkian's statement.
