Nancy Pelosi injured during Luxembourg visit, taken to hospital

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been hospitalized after suffering an injury on an overseas trip to Luxembourg, her office said Friday.

“While traveling with a bipartisan congressional delegation to Luxembourg to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi suffered an injury during an official engagement and was hospitalized for evaluation,” spokesman Ian Krager said in a statement. “Speaker Emerita Pelosi is currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.”

Krager said Pelosi "looks forward to returning home to the U.S. soon."

Pelosi served as Democratic leader in the House of Representatives for 15 years, including two terms as speaker, before leaving two years ago. She won another term in November and remains an influential figure in the party in the US.
