US President-elect Donald Trump has already appointed a large number of his trusted people to important positions in the incoming administration, and one name has remained, so far, outside the cabinet. It is Richard Grenell.

Despite reports that he could also be US Secretary of State, according to a Reuters report, Grenell will have to be content with the post of US special envoy for Iran.

The Reuters report was shared by Trump himself on the social network TruthSocial, saying that “Grenell is a star who will take on an important position.” However, he has not directly confirmed that Grenell will be appointed to the post.

Grenell is one of the new American president's loyalists and in the first administration, among other things, was the American ambassador to Germany and the special envoy for the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo.

Precisely because of this commitment to the Balkans, Grenell's potential appointment to the post of US Secretary of State, which was later filled by Marco Rubio, was problematic for several Balkan countries, such as Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Grenell does not hide his good relations with the regime of Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? and with Donald Trump's family, specifically his daughter, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared Kushner, a controversial plan for real estate investments in Albania and Serbia worth billions of dollars.

Despite his lofty ambitions and ties to the Balkans, Grenell will be heading to the Middle East, namely Iran, rather than southwestern Europe. However, it is worth noting that, given Trump's stance on Iran, Grenell will often be in the spotlight.
