Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has hit back at US President Donald Trump after the latter mocked her by saying that she had asked him to take a photo during the G7 Summit and that he felt sorry for her.

In a video published on X, the Italian leader emphasized that she does not understand the US President's behavior towards his allies, while adding that it is unfortunate that he does not have the same determination towards his enemies.

"Some things deserve an immediate response. Donald Trump's statements are fabricated. I am shocked. I don't know why the US president behaves this way with his allies, it is a pity that he does not have the same determination with the enemies of the West and the US. But he must remember one thing: Italy and I never beg each other," said Meloni.

She described the American president's statements as fabricated, while ending her speech by saying: "Italy and I never beg."

" Meloni is probably happy that I talked to her. I didn't have to talk to her. She asked me to take a picture with her, she loved it so much. I might not have done it at all, but in the end I felt sorry for her," Trump said.
