The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has reacted again on social networks to the explosion that happened last night in the water channel in Zubin Potok.

Kurti says, among other things, that although the investigations continue, the numerous materials seized show Serbian and Russian traces. He says the terrorist attack happened just one day after Russia attacked energy facilities in Ukraine, and calls it the same scenario.

He vows that those responsible for this attack will be held legally accountable.

Kurt's full reaction:

Last Friday night, Kosovo's critical infrastructure was targeted in a highly calculated kinetic terrorist attack. The attack specifically targeted a key water channel in the north of the country in order to destabilize the country's entire energy production and water supply. Additionally, the canal's geographic position presents significant challenges for repairs. Just a day before, Russia had launched an attack on Ukraine's power grid. This was a page from the same playbook. That is why we raise the alarm about Russia's alliance with Serbia. Although the investigation is ongoing, the seized materials show a significant number of Serbian and Russian military patches.

In addition to cutting off water supplies, the attack led to flooding in several areas, endangering the lives of residents and inundating homes. Had this attack been unmitigated, it could have reduced the country's power supply by 60% and affected water access for up to 40% of the population. However, our institutions acted quickly, in a coordinated and professional manner to mitigate the damage caused. Currently, the energy supply remains intact and we have restored the water supply to the eight municipalities that had interruptions.

Although the intended impact was avoided, we are working to ensure that all vital services are maintained. We express our gratitude to our institutions for their resourcefulness, dedication and professionalism in these challenging circumstances. We also thank our international partners for their swift condemnation of this terrorist act, their expression of solidarity with the Government and people of Kosovo, and their offer of assistance to help restore normalcy.

Those responsible for this act will be held accountable and investigations are ongoing.
