Almost 8 years after the event, the suspected murderer of Edvin Sadik, killed in 2017, was arrested. The Carabinieri of the Bari Provincial Command executed the arrest warrant at the request of the investigating judge of Bari.

The 37-year-old with the initials CF, originally from Bitonto, has ended up in handcuffs, investigated for premeditated murder, possession of firearms, aggravated by mafia methods.

According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, on the evening of February 3, 2017, at around 19.00, in Toritto in the direction of Palo del Colle, Edvin Sadiku, 33 years old at the time, and believed to belong to the Cipriano clan of Bitonto, was involved in an armed robbery against a man, who had been deliberately hit from behind by a car and had just got out of the vehicle, was hit with the gun to his head and took his car.

Immediately after, the robbers left with both cars, reaching the village of Binetto, where the recently arrested 37-year-old got out of the car and, catching him by surprise, shot at least 12 times with a firearm in the direction of his colleague Evdin Sadiku in the neck and head. The results of the autopsy and ballistics tests later showed that other gunshots had been fired at the victim after he had fallen to the ground.

The decision to eliminate Sadik was taken by the head of the relevant criminal organization, arrested today, to avoid the risk of him cooperating with justice and making statements about the bloody acts committed by the leaders of the criminal organization. The risk would be receiving life sentences, if not the extinction of the clan to which they belonged. For this reason, the investigating judge assessed that there is the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method and the intention to favor a mafia association.

The investigative activity, which led to the arrest of the 37-year-old, is part of a wider investigative context, which involved the entire area of ​​the municipality of Bitonto.

Edvin Sadiku was a person known to the Italian police. He has several precedents for drug trafficking. In 2012, the Albanian ended up in handcuffs in an extensive police operation against drug and arms trafficking, where 44 people were arrested, among them the Albanian Eglantina Arapi.
