Trump chooses Krushkush, Jared Kushner's father, as ambassador to France

US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he has named Charles Kushner as his choice for ambassador to France.

Kushner is a real estate developer and the father of Jared Kushner, the husband of his daughter Ivanka Trump. Trump pardoned Kushner during his first term, waiving a federal sentence in 2020.

In a post on his social media site Truth Social, Trump said Kushner is "an outstanding business leader, philanthropist and businessman who will be a strong advocate representing our country and its interests."

The appointment appears to be the first administration position Trump has formally offered a relative since his re-election. Also on Saturday, Trump announced two more picks — picking former aide Kash Patel to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation, an agency Patel has often criticized.

And separately, Chad Chronister, sheriff of Florida's Hillsborough County, was named head of the Drug Enforcement Agency.
