Israel: We have no interest in a wider war

The Israeli Defense Minister has said that his country has no interest in fighting with anyone other than Hamas.

"We are fighting on the southern front against Hamas, prepared for any development in the north, Hezbollah is suffering a lot of losses. However, we have no interest in expanding the war," said Yoav Gallant, answering if there was a possibility of a confrontation with Iran, writes Sky News .

Asked about a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, Gallant said it was not "far off".

Israel has so far held back the expected ground offensive, with pressure from Western leaders to wait until more hostages are freed.
