A former agent of the American CIA in Russia, Glen Korn, has stated that the Russians have declared war on the USA, being party to conflicts in several regions of the world.
Korn said that the conflict is not only in Ukraine, but also takes place in the Middle East, the Balkans, the Caucasus and beyond.
He stressed that the US should pay special attention to its allies in the Balkan region.
Korn, a professor at the American Institute for World Policy (IWP) in Washington, said that the Western Balkans region is "still a powder keg".
"I think that Putin can use Mr. Dodik and his allies to destabilize the situation here and divert attention from other regions," Korn assesses.
Korn underlined that Moscow is waging hybrid wars using what he calls "active measures" that include propaganda, political influence, liquidations, sabotage, not only in the Balkans, but also in Europe and the US.
"Moscow was doing all this in Ukraine before they started the invasion," says Korn, who served as the US president's top envoy for intelligence and national security.
