A serious crime shocked public opinion on New Year's Eve, where a 29-year-old woman threw her 11-month-old baby into the dam of a reservoir.

She is accused of intentionally killing her baby. But the performed autopsy shows that the baby died from suffocation.

The little girl was buried shortly after 15:30 on Monday, with the 29-year-old mother, the baby's grandfather and two other relatives present.

The baby's father was missing, as he said, he was not notified by the family, but by a person at the cemetery. In his statements to "Star", the father, who was in a relationship with the 29-year-old and did not know the child, said that "he was a little, happy angel... Whose heart does not ache...?" .

He added that "when I went and saw the child, he was fine, he was fed, I took him to the doctors... I tried for the best for this child".

He also emphasized that since the day the child was born, he has been trying to identify it. He added that he had also done the DNA test: "I was fighting for the identification of the child and nothing more. We didn't get along, I don't know the reasons why he didn't want me to accept him".

Until now, the 29-year-old denies that she was the one who killed the baby.

Greek media reports that the woman allegedly took a taxi from the village of Stavros Imathias on December 31, with the baby in her arms, and headed for the place where she dumped him in the river. She then left for Alexandria and stayed at a hotel, where she spent New Year's Eve and returned home at dawn where she lived with her baby, grandmother and grandfather.

The grandparents, seeing that the woman had returned without the child, were worried, while when they asked her where she was, it is learned that she replied that "she is fine where she is", to calm them down, but without convincing them. People alerted the Police and started calling the village to see if they knew anything to help them find their niece. Finally, the police found the baby in the icy waters of the river in the early hours of the next day.

The father of the child, who was not related to the mother, reported earlier that despite the efforts he made to identify the child after his birth, he always encountered "a wall", but added that he took care of him and visited him often to spend time with him.

He is shocked by the murder and cannot believe how the 29-year-old woman made this decision and killed their child.

"From the day he was born I fought for this child and I wanted to know him. I saw her often, she was always in clean clothes and looking good, I could never imagine what happened. If there was one more sign, I would have acted differently," he says.

"I wanted to take legal action because there was denial from his mother and her family and they wouldn't let me accept it. I would go home to see the child and face a wall," he adds.

"We weren't married, we weren't in a relationship. As long as I was able to see him at home, the child was fine, dressed, groomed, not related to neglect, I took him to the doctor, brought him home and left. I can't believe what happened," he added.
