Plane in US makes emergency landing after suddenly losing altitude, 15 injured

A JetBlue flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida, after it suddenly lost altitude en route from Cancun to New Jersey.

According to local authorities, at least 15 passengers have been taken to hospital for medical treatment. The airline announced that the plane, an Airbus A320, suffered a sudden loss of altitude for reasons still unclear.

The Federal Aviation Administration has opened a formal investigation to determine the causes of the problem in the flight control system that forced the pilot to request an immediate landing at Tampa airport.

Despite the rapid loss of altitude, the plane managed to land successfully, and rescue operations were activated immediately upon arrival at the runway.

Local sources report that some of the injured suffered shocks and contusions due to the sudden turbulence.

Technical checks are currently being conducted on the aircraft to identify any defects in the flight control systems.
