The international stabilization force has not yet been established, while Hamas, as expected, has been operating on the ground, taking up positions throughout the Gaza Strip, from north to south. A swift, decisive, and harsh action. It was carried out by the movement's police, the Arrow Unit and the Shadow Unit. Dozens of casualties have been reported in attacks against opposing groups.

The Shadow Unit militants have once again donned their military uniforms, tied green headbands and drawn their weapons. Yesterday, they divided up their tasks. After completing the hostage rescue, as they had done before with more propaganda, they focused on internal opponents. The target was the Daghmoush “family” in the northern sector, as well as other groups in various parts of Gaza. Unofficial sources speak of gunfights, executions and “hunting”. Hamas is reasserting its role as the dominant force, holding territory and trying to eliminate pockets of resistance represented by several historic or new clans.

In addition to Daghmoush, the targets are also the followers of Hussam al Astal and Abu Shabab, small groups created with the help of Israel. The list of targets also includes “collaborators”, real or alleged, pursued by members of the Arrow unit, created precisely for this purpose. The cold-blooded killings, the videos and the bodies left on the road are a warning. For those involved, old scores are opened and for those who may think of gaining a space, however small, in the future, when and if the plan conceived by Donald Trump with regional mediators is implemented.

The reappearance of the “shadows”, the masked men with Mephisto hoods, was expected. They are trained for special tasks, for special missions, to carry out orders in a reality where there are often no rules and where circumstances dictate them. The unit, according to Arab sources, was created in 2006 after the capture of the Israeli soldier Shalit. It was the idea of ??the political leadership and the leader of the al-Qassam Brigades, Mohammed Deif, killed during the last conflict. The aim was to have trusted fighters, recruited by intelligence, from selected units and from areas considered closest to the ideals of the movement, such as Khan Younis. The same procedure was repeated by the Ministry of Interior with the Arrow unit.

For this reason, they have received advanced training, better equipment, and privileged treatment compared to “regular” fighters. This high level has made the Shadow Unit a prime target for Israel, and many of its leaders are believed to have been hit by airstrikes. The losses have been accompanied by the usual secrecy, the same one that was used to hide, at least for a period, their activity.

Now, however, they are needed. The faction, in statements, has accepted the American proposal and would accept a technical government in Gaza. However, this is a scenario that has not yet been concretized, we are at the draft stage. For Hamas, the conditions are ideal to impose facts, force, importance on Palestinian society. In contrast, Israel sees this situation as a violation, while the American president, at least until Monday, has seemed to tolerate the actions of the mujahedeen.
