Former President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, has completed his visit to his father at the Internal Medicine Clinic at UCCK.

The Hague Specialist Chambers granted him permission to travel to Kosovo for "strong humanitarian reasons."

After staying with his father for several hours, he left the hospital while dozens of people gathered in the courtyard of the UCCK.

As soon as Thaçi descended the steps of the QKUK, citizens chanted his name and “KLA.” He then got into the car that accompanied him and left.

His visit was made possible after several rejections by the Special Court. Thaçi had requested on January 31, 2025, that the judges release him for a humanitarian visit to Kosovo.

According to the decision of January 31, 2025, Thaçi's defense had submitted that the health condition of his client's father constituted urgent and exceptional circumstances that justified Thaçi's release on humanitarian grounds. In both cases, his request was rejected.

Hashim Thaçi, who has been in detention since 2020, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, had stayed in Kosovo in May and September 2023, when precisely for health reasons of his parents, he was allowed visits.
