Israel-Iran attacks: US embassy in Jerusalem temporarily closed

The United States Embassy in Jerusalem will remain closed from Wednesday to Friday, due to the deteriorating security situation in the region and in accordance with the instructions of the Israeli authorities.

In a statement published on the X platform, the US State Department confirmed the temporary closure, including the Consular Sections in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

“Given the security situation and in accordance with the instructions of the Israeli Interior Command, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday, June 18) until Friday (June 20). This includes the Consular Sections in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv,” the statement said.

The closure comes at a time of heightened military tensions between Israel and Iran, with frequent exchanges of fire and a fragile security situation across Israeli territory. US authorities did not provide details on any specific threat, but stressed that the measure was taken for the safety of diplomatic staff and US citizens in the area.

American citizens in Israel are advised to follow official announcements, avoid non-essential travel, and stay informed through Embassy communication channels and local authorities.
