CONFIRMED/ The plane that killed 38 passengers was shot down by a Russian

On Wednesday, 38 passengers lost their lives when Azerbaijan Airlines flight '8432' crashed while attempting an emergency landing near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan.

Azerbaijani government sources have confirmed to Euronews International in Lyon that the cause of the plane crash was a Russian surface-to-air missile, which hit the plane during a drone aerial activity over Grozny, Chechnya.

The missile exploded near the plane and its fragments hit the passengers and crew in the cabin.

The strike occurred during a flight over the Caspian Sea, while the plane, which was severely damaged, was not allowed to land at any Russian airport, despite the pilots' requests for an emergency landing.

As a result, the plane was forced to fly over the sea towards the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan.

According to other reports, the plane's GPS navigation systems were jammed during the flight over the Caspian Sea, worsening the situation.
