US President Donald Trump has reiterated his criticism of Kiev's approach to his diplomatic push to end the war, saying it is "easier" to deal with Moscow.

Trump says he finds it "easier" to deal with Russia than Ukraine in efforts to end the war in Ukraine and that he trusts Vladimir Putin.

“I believe it,” he says.

"Putin wants peace, he's going to be more generous than we think. And I think Ukraine wants to end it, but I don't see it - it's crazy. They're getting a big penalty. I don't understand it at all," Trump said.

"I'm having a harder time honestly dealing with Ukraine and they don't have the cards. It might be easier to deal with Russia," Trump added.

Asked whether Putin was currently taking advantage of the pause in the sharing of American intelligence and military aid to Ukraine, Trump replied: "I actually think he's doing what anyone else would do."
