Two high-speed trains derailed in southern Spain on Sunday, killing five people and injuring 25.
The serious incident was confirmed by the railway network operator, while state television RTVE reported on the loss of life.
One of the trains was travelling from Malaga to Madrid's main Atocha station. About 10 minutes after departure, in the town of Andamuz, the Madrid-bound train collided with two carriages of a train bound for Huelva, causing both trains to derail.
Both trains were carrying around 300 passengers, according to local media, including El País.
The causes of the accident are still unknown.
