US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated on Thursday during a hearing before the House Intelligence Committee that the objectives of the United States and Israel in the military campaign against Iran are not the same.
"The objectives that have been set by the president are different from those that have been set by the Israeli government ," Gabbard said.
"What we see from the operations is that the Israeli government is focused on weakening the Iranian leadership. While the president has stated that his objectives are to destroy Iran's ballistic missile launch capabilities, their production, as well as its naval force, " she added.
These statements come at a time when tensions in the Middle East have escalated significantly and cooperation between the US and Israel is coming into focus due to strategic differences.
While both countries are close allies, their positions in this conflict indicate that each side is pursuing different military and political priorities in relation to Iran.
