DASH reacts to the bridge in Ibër: We do not support any change of status

The US State Department does not support any change to the current status of the bridge over the Ibër River in Mitrovica.

This was said by a DASH spokesperson to Pavlovic Today media.

"Opening the bridge to vehicular traffic increases the risk of violence and endangers the local population as well as KFOR soldiers, including the American ones, who work to support peace and security in Kosovo," said the State Department spokesperson, citing echoed Ambassador Hovenier's statements.

He calls on the government in Pristina to refrain from unilateral and uncoordinated decisions and to address the issue within the dialogue mediated by the EU.

The State Department emphasizes that this position is consistent with that of QUINT's partners, as well as the EU and NATO.

Therefore, Prime Minister Albin Kurti declared today that the opening of the Ibri bridge is not against Kosovo's partner countries.

A day after the statements of the American ambassador Jeffry Hovenier that the opening of the bridge endangers the American soldiers, Kurti guaranteed that the consultations regarding this matter will continue with the internationals.

"We deeply believe that freedom of movement and the rule of law on the one hand, as well as peace and security on the other hand, are possible together and right for the country, society and state, citizens and communities. We will continue consultation and coordination with our partners. The opening of the bridge is not against anyone, least of all our partners", said Kurti.
