Blinken in Baghdad: We welcome a humanitarian pause in Gaza
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit to Baghdad, Iraq

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a press conference in Baghdad in the middle of his diplomatic visits to the region.

He said he had a productive meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani and also made it "very clear" that attacks coming from Iran-aligned militias are "unacceptable".

"We had a good honest conversation and more broadly we are working hard to make sure that the conflict in Gaza does not escalate to other countries," he said.

The top US diplomat stated that Israel has raised important questions about how humanitarian pauses will work and the US “had to answer those questions.

Blinken added that "everyone would welcome a humanitarian pause" in Gaza.
