French actor Gerard Depardieu has been stopped by police in Paris and taken into custody for questioning over allegations of sexual assault.

Accusations of rape and other sexual assaults by two women have been brought against the actor. The first is a decorator who worked on the set of Les Volets Verts and accuses the actor of sexual assault in 2021. The second, a filming assistant, accuses him of sexual assault in 2014.

Accusations of rape and sexual assault against actress Charlotte Arnoux have been filed against the actor since 2020. Actress Hélène Daras filed a lawsuit against him for sexual assault during filming in 2007. This lawsuit was dismissed by the Paris prosecutor's office due to the statute of limitations.

In Spain, a lawsuit has been filed against Gerard Depardieu by journalist and author Ruth Bassa, who accuses him of rape in 1995
