An organized incursion by Hamas militants into southern Israeli regions has so far left 40 dead and 750 injured, the Israeli government says.

Saudi Arabia called for an "immediate halt to escalation between the two sides, protection of civilians and restraint" amid the ongoing attack by the Hamas terrorist group.

Riyadh says it "repeatedly warned" of an explosive situation with the Palestinians.

In a statement, the Kingdom recalls "its repeated warnings about the risk of the situation exploding, as a result of the continued occupation, the deprivation of the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights and the repetition of systematic provocations against their sanctities".

The Saudi Foreign Ministry further calls on the international community to lead a "credible peace process" to achieve a two-state solution.

The Kingdom has been negotiating to reach a normalization agreement with Israel.

According to the latest details, Saudi negotiators, while insisting on concessions to the Palestinians, do not see the creation of a Palestinian state as a precondition for a possible deal.

Meanwhile, Oman's Foreign Ministry has also called for an immediate end to the escalation between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Oman's foreign ministry said it is closely monitoring developments that have led to increased violence on various fronts in the region and called on both sides to act with restraint.

"The Sultanate of Oman is following with interest and is concerned about the ongoing escalation between the Palestinian and Israeli sides as a result of the continued illegal Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories," Oman's diplomacy said in a statement.

According to them, the continuous Israeli attacks bring serious consequences and an escalation of the intensity of violence.

"We call on both sides to exercise maximum levels of restraint and the necessity of protecting civilians," the statement said.

Meanwhile, Qatar also called for de-escalation and restraint, holding Israel responsible for the current escalation resulting from "continuous Israeli violations against the Palestinians and the violation of their rights."

Qatar expressed its deep concern over the developments in Gaza and called on both sides to immediately stop the escalation and exercise maximum restraint, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The ministry underlined the need for the international community to act urgently and compel Israel to stop flagrant violations of international law and to respect resolutions of international legitimacy and the historic rights of the Palestinians.
