Russia tests new generation missile

Russia has successfully tested a powerful new nuclear-capable missile and has not ruled out the possibility that it could conduct tests involving nuclear explosions for the first time in more than 3 decades.

It is the President Vladimir Putin himself who confirms something like this, after earlier a Kremlin spokesman rejected the reports about the test of the missile called Burevestnik with a range of several thousand miles.

Very little is known about the experimental weapon, first announced in 2018. Putin also told his audience, during the annual speech at the Valadai Discussion Club in Sochi, that work on the intercontinental ballistic missile, called the Sarmat, was nearing its end. However, while stressing that Russia has no plans to change its nuclear doctrine at the moment, as the existence of the Russian state was not threatened, he issued a strong warning to the West...

"The moment we detect a possible missile attack against Russia, from whichever corner of the world it comes from, the response from the air will be so strong and from every direction that none of the enemies would have a chance to survive." Putin said.

Putin suggested that Moscow could theoretically withdraw ratification of the 1996 nuclear test ban treaty, claiming that the US had signed it but not ratified it.

Satellite images circulated last month showed that Russia had recently built new structures in a remote area in the Arctic where Soviet nuclear tests had previously been conducted. During the same speech in Sochi, the Russian leader also declared that the air tragedy that killed Wagner leader Evgeny Prigozhin in August was not caused by a missile attack.

According to him, fragments of hand grenades were found in the bodies of the victims.
