US President Joe Biden has stated that "the Russian occupation of Ukraine will continue to weigh on the world economy."

"We know that families are facing rising prices. Vladimir Putin is the major cause of inflation. "The invasion of Ukraine has raised the price of gas and food around the world."

The US president added that he is trying to do his best to reduce prices, coordinating with US allies.

"We are in a situation where the war in Ukraine will continue to weigh on the world economy. "Many people are suffering, because for them the change in the price of eggs or fuel is not a small thing," said Biden.

Biden also responded to journalists' interest in visiting Ukraine.

"The answer is; I do not know. "I have been to Ukraine many times, I just have not been there recently," Biden told reporters.

White House officials said last week that a senior official could travel to Kiev to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky. The latter has invited the American president to visit Ukraine.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday that there are currently no plans for Biden to travel outside the US.

She later added that if she had such plans she would not tell reporters.

Officials say the U.S. is more likely to send the secretary of state or secretary of defense to Ukraine.
