Containers with toxic waste left in the open environment in the territory of the Port of Durrës

The scandal of toxic waste that "traveled" all over the world before coming back to Albania is expected to get even bigger, because the company that produced this waste "KURUM" has been doing it for many years, even with the knowledge of the authorities. police, port and customs. All the institutions have been silent before this scandal, as the waste was transported to the Port of Durrës in large trucks, not stored, and without any signs that they are toxic.

But, not only that! The waste was dumped in the open area in the territory of the Port of Durrës, without any measure and left for several weeks and months, waiting for the right amount to be collected to be exported by the company "Sokolaj". Again, the waste in the open environment, in all atmospheric conditions, in the wind and rain, in the cold sun.

VoxNews has exclusively provided photos and videos of these remains, left in the open in the eastern territory of the Port of Durrës. They were even thrown away before being loaded into containers, to be exported on ships to different countries around the world.

The photo above was taken a few months ago, in the territory of the Port of Durrës. In this photo, the security car of KURUM can be seen, accompanying the trucks at the eastern terminal of the Port of Durrës. Some employees of the KURUM company have written to the editors of VoxNews, after worrying that they too may be contaminated by these toxic wastes.

"If they were toxic, why didn't they tell us?! We have been transporting waste for years. The subject was left in the open. See how the containers were filled with toxic waste in the Port of Durrës. From the KURUM factory in Elbasan, they were transported by high-tonnage trucks to the eastern quay of the port. That foristrada belongs to the security of KURUM, which is parked there by the containers" the workers write.

The video above was made at the end of 2022, where a heavy tonnage truck is seen unloading this waste at the eastern quay of the Port of Durrës.

"Toxic waste was transported from Elbasan to the Port of Durrës by trucks with self-discharging tanks owned by the Kurum company itself. This company has about 20 trucks, but in some cases it also received trucks from other firms such as 'D... Trans,'" said the workers.

According to them, in some other cases he also took trucks from other companies, but he had most of them himself, the ones that also transported iron.

VoxNews has exclusively provided photos and videos of these remains in the Port of Durrës. The video above, according to the workers, was made in December 2022.

"In this way, these wastes have gone away continuously. Then the company 'Sokolaj' from Tropoja took them, because she always took them. After leaving this waste in the open field for a long time, the containers were then filled and sent from 2000 tons to 5000 tons per year. That's how much waste was produced in total in a year," claim the workers.

The photos and videos show another reality, where KURUM operated openly to export this waste. He even left them in the open, in the eyes of the port, police and customs authorities. The current investigations of the Durrës Prosecutor's Office may also reveal these details, where it is expected that the scandal will extend to the state authorities.

Until now, no law enforcement body has investigated KURUM, as the solar smuggling scandal, denounced by VoxNews, has passed in silence. Again no verification and no further investigation, where all institutions, environmental, customs or justice, have not acted. If they act now, time will tell!
