The residents of the village of Lumas have marched towards Sinec protesting for the protection of the source, while they have opposed the works of the Salillari firm, accusing it of trying to destroy the water source that they claim is a protected area. They express their indignation that the 'Salillari' company, which has carried out work in this area, is destroying the source from which the entire area receives water from the villages up to Lapardha, further joining the Osum river.

The firm 'Salillari', which won the tender without competitors to do water supply works for the villages in the project area, has not mentioned that it will interfere with the source while it has carried out works in the protected area.

Several times the residents with their voice of protest have hindered the firm and have taken this issue to SPAK, both the head of the firm and the mayor of Kuçovo, who has awarded the tender to this firm and has never sat down with these residents to hear their voice. .

"We were hit and beaten by the police to protect this source. We have water, there are 11 villages that are claimed to be supplied with water from this aqueduct. All 11 villages have water 24 hours, two villages do not have water, they are not included in the Salillari project Why would Salillari use this water? Only if they step on our bodies will they take Sinec's water. It is the only source left in this area, God gave us this water to live with.

" In this village, tourism has just started to flourish, precisely from this source, we are organizing ourselves by selling our products. With the taking of water, this place can be destroyed. We were also present when the inspectors of the IKMT of Elbasan came and assessed it as a protected area and that it was affected and damaged by the company that is building, while the employees were threatened for writing that report. And they imposed fines for violation and damage to the protected area. While we have continued with trials, we will continue until we get a final answer ", the residents say.

The residents say that they will continue the protest until this problem is finally resolved.

"We call on the government and all the relevant institutions to give up this area protected by this source, to stop wandering the judicial bodies and return the decision to us as soon as possible. This source should not be destroyed and these criminals who have destroyed these areas should be brought to justice. This source that we see today flows into the Osum River, this water crosses and sustains 1500 ha of land. By destroying the river bed and taking this water, this area will eventually be abandoned, we don't want to go as far as a Prosecutor's Office and send it to the Berat Prosecutor's Office, but give a solution to this issue", says another resident.

The lawyer of this case, Arben Llangozi, says that this violation of the company 'Salillari' has been pursued in a legal matter, but so far no step has been taken by the authorities to suspend the works. Lalngozi says how they approached SPAK, as they had suspicions that the mayor of Kuçova, Kreshnik Hajdari, was abusing the tender he gave to the company 'Salillari'.

According to him, SPAK has come to the conclusion that there are no findings of abuse of the tender, but only works are being carried out in a protected area. The lawyer points out that they addressed the Prosecutor's Office of Berat for the violation that the company is committing by working in a protected area, but no punitive measures have been taken against it, but the works continue.

"About 2 years ago, a project was being developed here, the residents have contracted us to follow the procedure related to this environmental massacre that was being developed in this country where we are currently located. Referring to the acts taken by the municipality of Kuçovo, we found that there were many actions that conflicted with the laws of the Republic of Albania and illegal actions that were related to criminal offenses. The first complaint we made was addressed to the SPAK Special Prosecutor's Office for criminal prosecution of the Mayor as we suspected that this tender was corrupt and not legal as this whole tender had to do with the development of a project related to a water supply that was it was done in four or five villages that have drinking water and have water 24 hours a day. They do not need another water supply, this is very factual, so if you look at it, you will be convinced that they have water in these villages that were built in the last 10 years and are very functional. Taking place before this fact, we addressed the prosecutor's office with a complaint for abuse of office and inequality in tenders and other acts of corruption in the mayor's opinion. It is all these residents who are concrete and actual witnesses, as well as the numerous film footage that proves that the people who did this environmental massacre is the company "Salillari", which has not been punished at the moment. Other reports have also been made against police officials who have exercised violence against residents, again the Berat Prosecutor's Office has tried to close some proceedings but through our complaints made to the court. The court found that employees and police leaders, as well as the former director of the Berat district police today, deputy state police Neritan Nallbati, is responsible for the criminal offense of abuse of office after he violated the residents and prevented them from exercising their right to protest. of these residents. Another legal way is the administrative appeal to the national agency of protected areas, which has established that the Salillari company has developed a project in a protected area, and IKMT Elbasan is charged with this, it is an institution that protects this area, and this has again established that the company " Salillari" is developing a project in the protected area and has acted in violation of several laws. The law on water management, the law on protected areas, etc. are laws violated by the Salillari company and the mayor of Kučovo, Kreshnik Hajdari, who, instead of protecting this area, has become a party to the destruction and continuing the mass destruction of this protected area. . What worries us is the fact that the Salillari company is untouchable, although it has committed violations, but it is stronger than the law", says the lawyer.

The water of Sinec flows from the rocks and the spring of the same name has been flowing and keeping the villages in the Lumas area green and alive for centuries. The source of Sinec years ago was declared a "Natural Monument", with Vkm.No. 676. dt. 20.12.2002. 

But in 2019, the Rama government annulled this decision, removing Sinec Canyon's protection as a "natural monument" and paving the way for its exploitation and transformation. But the area has a very good tourist guide, with caves, canyons, walls and fragments of old walls that attract tourists. There are valuable toponyms such as Djinxile Cave, Sinec Canyons, Gorica Mountain, Mulliri Church, Katundasi Cave.
