The sentencing of Edison Memolla to one year in prison by the Special Court has left Rrogozhina without a mayor.
This municipality in the Tirana district must now hold new elections for the local elected official, while the Prefect of Tirana must submit the vacancy to the Council of Ministers.
The government will be the one to notify the President of the country of the mayor's absence, while the head of state has 48 hours to decree the date of new elections.
These elections must be held no earlier than 30 days and no later than 45 days from the date of notification of the termination of the mayor's term of office.
However, another scenario remains that of the commander-in-chief.
The Municipal Council of Rrogozhina has the right to appoint one of the vice-mayors to lead the local institution until the date of regular elections.
Sources for VoxNews claimed that Rrogozhina is now run by Andi Proshka , the latter being the husband of Edison Memolla's uncle's daughter.
But what is not understood is why the Council of Ministers does not send the vacancy to President Begaj.
Although according to the law, Rrogozhina must go to early local elections.
